| A few days in Toronto | |

2010-08-10
It's been a very long time since I've spent any real time in Toronto, so it was nice to spend a few days here again. Really quite a different place from the city I left 21 years ago, but plenty of new things to explore. Sadly, we didn't explore as much as I'd like, and seemed to spend more time in shopping malls than anything else, but still did squeeze in a few walks to some really nice places. |
We ended up staying at a BnB in the gay district at College and Parliament. Our host was a really friendly Singaporean dude.
There are a lot of churches in this city. Did I mention how blue the sky was?

Ah yes, shopping stop 1, 3, 59, 100, 123, and 244. There was an apple store, so I killed a half hour here and there pretending I had a hope in hell of getting an iPhone 4.

Yonge and Dundas is a little different these days, but still seems to be a reasonably important commercial hub.

Walking up through Forest hill.

Some guy yelled at me when I tried to take a picture of my high school.
So I just waited until he walked around the corner. Weird.

How many downtown high schools have 8+ playing fields? Yegads!
Sister's school, down the road about 600m.

Ah yes, Casa Loma. The weird little castle thing in the city. It's a tourist spot now. Really kinda neat.
It got hot, so we hung out at the UofT for a while enjoying the shade.
While not nearly as bad as Beijing, Toronto can still be quite muggy in the summer.
Went to visit some friends at High Park and got a few nice shots there.
BnB host made the most amazing french toast ever. Holy hell!
