A weekend up in Harbin, China (aka Brrr)

Harbin is China's coldest provincial capital, and most famous for its annual Ice Festival. It's a bit tricky to get train tickets up here in the winter, since everybody wants to come and check it out, but we finally got everything organised enough this to do it.

After doing a night train up, a few of us spent a weekend exploring the city, checking out the various sights, including the famous Ice World park, and then hopping a train back to town to be back at work by 9am Monday morning! Brilliant way to travel.

The Harbin Ice Festival (冰雪大世界)
Harbin is most famous for its winter ice festival, one of the world's big four such festivals. A large area north of the city is blocked off an famous artists are invited to come and create large ice sculptures. You can easily spend an entire evening walking around exploring the sculptures (read: buildings) and enjoying the activities.
