Although I went to university here for four years, I somehow managed to never explore Montreal very much. This is the first time I've ever been there during the summer. I really enjoyed it. It's a surprisingly young city, full of life, fun, and things to do. I would have to say that I definitely liked the feel of it much more than Toronto. It was so much fun, you could almost forget how unbelievably miserably freaking COLD it is here in the winter. Brr! |
The first night here, there was a fireworks festival thingie. It was short, at only ten minutes long, but pretty cool.

I like how this picture looks. We hooked up a doctor kid and his Thai doctor friend and wandered around a lot.
And then ended up walking back home through the "Village Gay"! Huge huge party.
Next day, I just started wandering.
Past a hospital
Down St. Catherines.
And up to McGill University.
All the signs very clearly say don't go on the grass.
Library.
My feet.
With a week or two before school, it seems as though the "in" thing to do is sleep on the grass.
Or play some frisbee.
The comp sci/engineering buildings, my old haunt.
Into the neighbourhood just east of the university, where I used to live.
Amazing how little I remember.
Heeey, my old building!
I seemingly never went east when I was here. Huge shame, because there's a tonne of cool stuff.

This is the coolest thing ever: They have these bike rental stations EVERYWHERE. Affordable.
Only downside: to prevent destruction, the bikes are HEAVY. Small person + a hill = you're screwed.
The single most gloriously tasty unbelievably awesome holy moly incredible piece of food EVER. I present: poutine.

No way, the Kuomintang still has an office here in Montreal. Looolz.
