Business trip to San Francisco — one of the cooler places in the United States to hang out for a week. I ended up staying in an apartment of some people I met over a couch-surfing type website, and between meetings managed to get a tonne of walking done. The city remains largely unchanged from my previous visits or time I lived here. Lots of good restaurants, plenty of strange and eclectic people, and lots of tech people and startups. The weather didn't cooperate for much of the week, but there was still plenty to shoot (with the camera) while I was there. |
The city is full of hills, which create for some crazy driving / parking, and great walking.
Lots of older buildings too. Great messy melange of architecture.
And shopping.

Tonnes and tonnes and tonnes of shopping.
There really is a downtown area with a bunch of skyscrapers and the like too, but it seems as though you never end up spending any time there.
Port Authority Building or something like that.
Bay Bridge to Oakland
The café in which I hung out every morning before going to work. Nice bagels and drip coffee.
This place burned down a few months back and was just finally being cleaned up.
I went for a long walk one day, in and out of the fog — very San Francisco.
There's no real winter here, so a lot of the leaves just hang out on the trees until the new year rains wash them off.
The row housing in this city is pretty unique in the US and extremely cool.
All combined with the hills and valleys, of course.
Um. That's me.
This is the Lombard Street super curvy area on Russian Hill. Half of the tourists drive their car down the road and the rest stand at the top and take photos.
San Francisco Trolley car.
It's cool because the car basically moves by attaching itself to a cable moving in the road.
Hanging out at the marina on the north end of town.
Oh, and there's ice skating here too. Even in the 17C weather !!
Not sure why anybody would be out on a boat today; visibility was terrible.
Alcatraz. Woo.
Some super great views of Pacific Heights through the fog. Quiet calm Saturday today.
Most random sign I've ever seen!
Horsies and girlie cops.
That's pretty much all I saw of the Golden Gate Bridge today. D'oh!
Still tonnes of people at Chrissy Field though.
Hanging out at the Palace of Fine Arts.
There were a couple of church outings too.
The sun threatened to come out a few times, but never really broke through seriously.
Moving now towards Fisherman's Wharf. Still some great fog.
Created for some great effects with the Ghirardelli sign.
Just enjoyed the walk and the fog for the rest of the day.
Bank of America tower in the background, I believe.
This is the coolest photo ever.
Went to the rooftop terrace of the place I was staying in and took a few shots there too.
Hope I have some more business there sometime soon!
