Reims is a town that, for some reason, I had repeatedly heard that Reims was a particulary drab and uninteresting town, albeit with a nice church. We ended up stopping here on the way home, and must confess -- the reputation is not well deserved. The town was actually quite beautiful, and after seeing the huge cathedral, we ended up walking towards a pedestrian shopping area where the girls found a ... Gallerie Lafayette. We ended up waiting there for a good hour while they wandered, and then headed back out on the road again. |

The cathedral dominates the town from quite some distance.

The city hall across the road! wooooooooooo!!!

When you're this close, it doesn't fit into the camera's frame of view.

Spoooky Entrance.

Some excellent groined rib vaulting.

|
There are some underground vaults into which you can descend and see things.
|
Back out on the streets, we went to a cafe across the road from the main courthouse in town.

Then we wandered through some pedestrian areas.

It was a really gorgeous city, and probably worth coming back to some day again.
