| Surfing and Heading to San Jose | |

We had to work our way back to San José today, which takes about 4-5 hours. However, we first wanted to do a little surfing in Sàmara. Since neither of us have done it before, that means doing some lessons. We found a cool little surf school on the beach for 25$ each, which is reasoanble, and gave us a couple of hours of lessons. We learned something today: There is a -very- good reason why there are no fat surfers. This is serious exercise. We were absolutely destroyed after about an hour of this stuff. Eeek. The ride back to San José was only about 300km (200mi), but the terrible traffic on the Pan-Americano meant that it took over five hours. We got back to our hotel, slept like the dead, and had a harmless flight back home. |

These guys were the ones who taught us the basics of surfing. This sport is totally addictive.

On the drive back to San José, we stopped in Nicoya, and checked out the local church there. Basic, but pretty. We were sad to be done with our trip! We'll have to come back.
